Northern Uganda Farmers Livelihood Improvement Project (NUFLIP) published the "Fact Sheet on Vegetables Pests, Diseases, and Physiological Disorders"

JICA in partnership with MAAIF and District Local Governments in Acholi sub-region have since December 2015 been implementing the Northern Uganda Farmers' Livelihood Improvement Project (NUFLIP), a 5-year market-oriented technical cooperation project aimed at boosting farmers' income security and improving their quality of life through the production of vegetables.

As a key output of the project, vegetable production knowledge and skills of agricultural officers have been improved through the verification of appropriate technologies at demonstration farms. Basing on the results from the demonstration farms, the project has formulated and released a ‘factsheet on vegetable pests, diseases, and physiological disorders'. This important piece of material clearly outlines the common pests and diseases that affect vegetable crops, and their symptoms as well as control measures for mitigating or preventing their damage.

Once downloaded, this open-access document with hyperlinks to different sections on crop pests/diseases, insecticides, fungicides, et al will require neither internet nor permission to use. Worth noting is the fact that all the photos used are a compilation of project field experiences during the last three years in Acholi sub-region.

This factsheet should serve as an important guide not only for extension officers in the country but also farmers involved in the cultivation of vegetable crops. With its optimum use, losses caused by vegetable pests and diseases shall be minimized and farmers' incomes from vegetable production greatly improved.
