Voices of JICA Ex-participants: Eng. Paul Ssesanga

My name is Paul Ssesanga; a Principal Executive Engineer with the Roads and Bridges Department at the Ministry of Works and Transport.

Early this year, I attended an online capacity building Road Maintenance Training Program facilitated by JICA.

With colleagues from Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Sudan, Zambia and Zimbabwe, we maximised the opportunity to learn methods of effective road management and maintenance, and deliberated upon the problems of each country through various perspectives whilst tapping from the rich experience of Japan.

With the skills and knowledge acquired throughout the training, I intend to pass the same on to my colleagues at the Ministry and in the road engineering sector so that they can appreciate techniques for appropriate road maintenance, especially planning skills (including asset management).

I strongly believe that this will contribute to the improvement of the road management and maintenance system to ensure comfortable and safe road transport in Uganda.

Thank you JICA!
