On 4th August 2021, the Kampala Flyover project hosted a safety campaign that was conducted by the new JICA Uganda Chief Representative; Mr. Uchiyama Takayuki and new Senior Representative; Mr. Fukuhara Ichiro together with the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA); the project executing agency as well as the contractor; Shimizu-Konoike JV.

The campaign was aimed at confirming both the occupational health and safety standards on the site as well as the safety for the third party persons such as pedestrians and traffic using the adjacent existing roads to the site.

At the wrap up of the campaign, Mr. Uchiyama emphasized that the health and safety of the people is the most important throughout the implementation of the project, and asked all parties to be aware of this and comply with the protocol of safety standard procedures.

Over the years, JICA has made effort to maintain the highest standards of occupational health and Safety on all its projects.
