Welcome to Zambia! A Country of Friendly People

PhotoThe new volunteers with JICA Zambia Volunteer Coordinator and Programme Officer at JICA Zambia Office

14 JOCV and 1 SV arrived in Zambia on 8th of January, 2013 making the current total number of volunteers in Zambia to 67 (64 JOCV and 3 SV). The volunteers undergo one month in-country training before they are dispatched to their various recipient organizations. The one month in-country training is a very busy orientation period for them; during this period volunteers also get an opportunity to learn local language spoken in their respective areas under a class room arrangement for five days.

The volunteers will be working in Zambia for the next two years in various fields such as youth activities, public health, nutrition, rural community development, vegetable growing, science & mathematics and business administration.

Zambia receives volunteers who work in different sectors namely; education, health, community & youth development, agriculture and industrial development & vocational training. Each sector has a volunteer coordinator coordinating the activities under their respective sectors.
