Seven new volunteers
Zambia has been hosting Japanese Volunteers since 1970 and has never received a female senior volunteer. However, on 7th January 2014, we received 7 volunteers among them one female senior volunteer. She has started her life changing journey in Zambia as a public health worker at a District Health Office.
We hope that after her two year stay in Zambia, she will go back to Japan with lots of experiences and memories. It is also our hope that she will encourage more fellow Japanese women to apply for senior volunteer positions in Zambia. JOCV/SV is currently on high demand in Zambia.
In addition, we received two short –term volunteers from Yokohama National University. They came under a cooperation program with the University. They will work in Zambia for one (1) month supporting one of our JOCV- a former student at Yokohama University in Community Development.
We can only wish our new volunteers all the best as they embark on a two year challenging and exciting period in Zambia for a noble cause.
