Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA), Ministry of Industry and Commerce and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) concluded the Record of Discussions on the Project for Capacity Development on Smooth Operation of OSBPs on the North- South Transport Corridor, a technical cooperation project.

The Project aims to improve the customs clearance procedures at the targeted One Stop Boarder Posts (OSBPs) including Chirundu OSBP through strengthening the capacities of ZIMRA and related organizations. This is a part of Japan's cooperation in its priority area for Zimbabwe to facilitate smooth integration into the Southern African regional economy, eliminating the bottleneck along the most important corridor in the region.

Japan's support to the North-South Corridor includes the construction of New Chirundu Bridge in 2002, technical support for establishment of the Chirundu OSBP in 2009 as the first OSBP in Africa in collaboration with DFID(UK), and the on-going Project for the Road Improvement of the Northern Part of the North-South Corridor.
