Angola

Since the end of the Angolan Civil War in 2002, Angola once experienced significant growth of economy by exporting mainly raw materials, such as oil and diamonds, until 2014 when oil price dropped. Angola is now in the phase of restoration and development from the civil war (lasted for 27 years since 1975), fluctuation of oil prices, and COVID 19. Being one of the largest oil producers and exporters in Sub-Sahara Africa region, Angola also has potentials in agriculture, fishery, and mining industry. The government aims to change its economy from oil-dependent to non-oil-dependent by industrial diversification. National Development Plan 2023-2027 sets its targets as human capital development and food security. The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) supports the NDP by industrial diversification (infrastructure development, agriculture), human resource development (vocational training, education), and human security (health) as its top priorities in agenda.
