In 2010, Cambodia marked firm economic growth, posting a GDP growth rate of 6.0 percent. Recently, Japanese corporations are actively expanding their business in Cambodia. JICA's assistance—such as the establishment of a special economic zone and human resource development for industry sector—is contributing to the activities of the private sector. However, such as the infant mortality rate remains at a low level compared with other ASEAN countries. To ensure that Cambodia develops in a balanced manner with stable economic growth, JICA is focusing its support on strengthening the economic base by promoting agriculture, improving infrastructure, enhancing social development through health care and education, and strengthening governance through legal reform.
