Handing-over "Ceremony" in JICA Nigeria Office
Eng. OKETOKUN, professor of welding in the Industrial Maintenance Engineering Department, School of Engineering, Yaba College of Technology, was a training participant of JICA in Welding Technology course for 7 months in Aichi Prefecture, in one of the biggest industrial regions of Japan, in 1983. He still remembers Japanese words and greets Japanese people living in Nigeria with Japanese, 20 years later after he left Japan. He was recently awarded the diploma of "International Welding Engineer" by International Institute of Welding (IIW), through Authorised National Body of Japan (J-ANB). Applicants for this diploma have to be strictly examined based on their academic career as well as practical study hours. The diploma was handed to Eng. OKETOKUN through JICA Chubu International Centre (in Nagoya, Aichi) and Nigeria Office. He talked to JICA office in Nigeria that not only himself but also his department and the college had benefited by attaining the status of Higher National Diploma owing to his international diploma. JICA is pleased to have contributed to the development of academic and technical standard of the college and the country.
