ICT section launched its 1st Know-How Dissemination Program for Instructors

ICT section of the JSCOT Project launched the 1st instructor's training course under the Know-how dissemination program. It was held on the 15th–17th September, 2007 at the System Laboratory. Thirteen instructors participated representing various technical colleges under the Department of Technical Education and Training. This three-day training program focused on the following theory and practical modules:

- Network fundamentals,
- Network installation (cabling) TCP/IP fundamentals,
- Installation and set up work group,
- Setting up domain base network,
- Server/Client setting,
- Server advance setting,
- Network environment.

- These modules were designed by Mr.A.M.J. Senevitatne, Course coordinator and Mr.D.M.W.B. Daundasekara, Counterpart officer in the ICT section under the guidance of Mr. Mizuno, the short-term expert in ICT. Lectures and practice were delivered by these officers and in particular this time, six Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) (Mr.Yusuke Morimoto, Rathnapura Technical College :Mr.Kenichi Takabayashi Galle Technical College: Mr.Masayuki Furukawa,Matara Technical College: Ms.Kana Morimoto, Hapitigama National College Of Education: Ms.Sunao Tsuchiya, Ruhuna National College Of Education: Mr.Yuji Kuronuma, Sri Lanka Technical College) imparted their expertise in Server Setting and Anti Virus Software.

According to the course evaluation by the participants we realized that this short course had fulfilled the lacking knowledge in network to some extent.

At the closing ceremony, Mr. Wijenayake, the Executive Director of SLCoT, highlighted the devotion of counterpart officers and the JOCV team to make this course a success. Mr. Umimae, the Chief Advisor of the Project, expressed his congratulations on the successful completion of the course and appealed that he would welcome any comments from the participants to improve the next course.
Mr. Nizar, one of the participants at his speech, stated, "Following this course we believe that we are now in the 2nd step of the Network staircase, but we have to climb many steps so that please arrange more and more short courses to update our knowledge and skills and thereby imparting the knowledge and skills to our students."

Finally the vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. J. Ariyasinghe, Head of Level 5 & 6 courses of the Project.
