JICA signed Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, for strengthening public health emergency preparedness and response in Africa

On February 22nd, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), a public health agency of the African Union which deals with health emergency responses. The signing took place between H.E. Dr. Jean Kaseya, the Director General of Africa CDC and Ms. Imoto Sachiko, the Senior Vice President of JICA through the online ceremony.

This MoC renews the Letter of Intent signed between Africa CDC and JICA in 2017 to reaffirm the further collaboration between Africa CDC and JICA. The collaboration aims to strengthen disease surveillance and the capacity of laboratories in Africa, which will contribute to enhancing public health emergency preparedness and response in the region.

Mr. Oshima, Chief Representative of JICA's Ethiopian office attended the signing ceremony at the Africa CDC HQs in Addis Ababa.
