JICA Executive Senior Vice President Yamada Met with Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction and Head of UNDRR Mizutori

On October 31, JICA Executive Senior Vice President Yamada Junichi met with Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction and head of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) Mizutori Mami, at JICA Headquarters.
At the beginning of the meeting, Special Representative Mizutori expressed her gratitude for JICA's cooperation in implementing the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.
In response, Executive Senior Vice President Yamada expressed his gratitude for the official trips made by Special Representative Mizutori to countries such as Tunisia and Tonga, during which she exchanged views with representatives of JICA’s overseas offices and visited the sites of JICA projects.
Furthermore, both sides confirmed the importance of disaster risk reduction by discussing cooperation in recent flood control projects, including the Metro Manila Flood Control Project in the Philippines, and conferred on the promotion of pre-disaster investment for reducing disaster risks as well as climate change adaptation at upcoming international conferences.
