On October 21, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a loan agreement with the Royal Government of Cambodia in Phnom Penh, to provide a Japanese ODA loan of up to 6,336 million yen for the Siem Reap Water Supply Expansion Project (II).

The objective of the project is to ensure the water supply through expanding the water supply system, thereby contributing to improve the living environment in Siem Reap city and to promote the tourism industry in the region. The project will contribute to the achievement of SDGs Goals 3 and 6.

A Japanese ODA loan was provided for the first stage of this project (the loan agreement was signed in March 2012 for 71.61 billion yen), and this loan is additional financing.
