This loan will provide budgetary support as a precautionary measure to Bangladesh, a country affected by multiple global issues, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the Ukraine crisis, and the transportation, food, and energy price spikes associated with the latter. By backing the government’s financial management reforms, the loan specifically aims to increase revenue and improve expenditure management, which in turn will support Bangladesh’s economic recovery and strengthen its public financial management capacity. Consequently, the loan will contribute to SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) Goals 8 (Decent work and economic growth), 10 (Reduced inequalities), 16 (Peace, justice and strong institutions), and 17 (Partnerships for the goals).
