On August 28, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a loan agreement with the Government of the Republic of the Philippines to provide a Japanese ODA loan of up to 30,000 million yen for the Post Disaster Standby Loan (Phase 3).

This loan aims to ensure the contingency funds necessary to respond to the immediate financial demands of a post-disaster recovery phase in the Philippines, while also supporting policies related to disaster risk reduction and management. In doing so, the loan will contribute to the achievement of SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) Goals 9 (Industry, innovation and infrastructure), 11 (Sustainable cities and communities), and 13 (Climate action).
