Primary objectives and outcomes

This event was held under the initiative of the Ministry of Transport to present the achievements and future prospects of Vietnam's efforts to decarbonize its transportation sector, particularly with regard to electric vehicles (EVs), which have been making remarkable progress in recent years.

Content of the discussions

This event provided an opportunity for policy makers, development assistance agency practitioners, and domestic operators deploying EVs (including passenger cars and buses) to discuss together the progress made to date and future prospects.

JICA has a strong base of support for Vietnam's transportation sector, and introduced the progress of capacity building activities to improve the transportation sector's capacity to implement NDC measures (introduction of EVs and modal shift to public transportation) under the current Support for the Implementation of NDC (SPI-NDC).
