JICA-RI and ADB will hold a book launch for Economic and Social Development of Bangladesh: Miracle and Challenges, which was published in November 2017 from Palgrave Macmillan. This book explores the factors affecting the development of Bangladesh based on empirical analysis.

It is the culmination of a three-year research project entitled “Empirical Study on Risk and Poverty in Bangladesh,” conducted by the JICA Research Institute (JICA-RI). Two of the book’s editors, Yasuyuki Sawada (former JICA-RI visiting fellow) and Minhaj Mahmud (JICA-RI Visiting Scholar), played leading roles in this project.

This event will invite practitioners and academic researchers working on economic and social development in Bangladesh, and all those who are interested in development of low-income countries.
