Joint Symposium by German Development Institute (DIE) and JICA Research Institute (JICA-RI)

Evolving Perspectives on the Post-2015 Agenda:
The Role of Emerging Economies and OECD Countries

The world is now witnessing a rising prominence of so-called “emerging economies” such as China, India, Brazil, Mexico and South Africa in the international political and economic sphere. The emerging economies’ role in the discussions over the post 2015 development agenda as well as their prospect for ever active engagement in the future development cooperation is attracting world-wide attention. Against this background, JICA Research Institute (JICA-RI) and the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) jointly host a symposium, with a participation of distinguished academicians and practitioners from China, Mexico, South Africa, Germany and Japan.

In the symposium, the participants of JICA-RI, DIE and from the emerging economies will share findings of their research projects on the role of the emerging economies and OECD countries in development cooperation and the post-2015 negotiations. Discussions will focus on current and future policy orientations of the emerging economies and OECD countries and on their engagement with global agendas including development cooperation. The symposium is expected to be a venue for delving deeper into the realities of development cooperation by the emerging economies and OECD countries, and for exchanging opinions both from the perspectives of the emerging economies and OECD countries on the future cooperation between them in tackling global challenges.

Regarding the program of the symposium, please refer to the attached file.
