Emergency Assistance to Mozambique in Response to the Cyclone Damage

The Japan International Cooperation Agency will provide emergency relief goods as below in response to a request from the Government of Mozambique relating to the Cyclone Damage.

1. Disaster situation
The cyclone occurred around the middle of March, has caused serious human and property damage. According to OCHA, the damage situation as of 26 March was as follows:

Deaths: 447
Injured: more than 1,500
Evacuees: 1,850,000
Collapsed houses: 72,260

2. Goods supplied
A. Emergency relief goods
Blankets
Plastic sheets
Portable jerry cans
Water purifiers
Flocculants

B. Shipping schedule
The goods will be transported from the JICA warehouse to Maputo on the next available flight.
