Dispatch of the Japan Disaster Relief Urban Search and Rescue Team in Response to the Damages caused by the Earthquake in the Republic of Turkey

Upon the request of the Government of the Republic of Turkey, Japan Disaster Relief (JDR) Urban Search and Rescue Team was dispatched to conduct search and rescue operations in response to the damages caused by the massive earthquake. The team will arrive in Turkey on February 7.

Disaster situation
A magnitude 7.8 earthquake occurred at 10:17 a.m. on Feb. 6(4:17 a.m. on Feb. 6 in Turkey), causing serious human and property damage in Turkey.
According to the government of Turkey, the number of dead has reached 912 as of Feb.6. The number of the dead and injured people is expected to rise.
