On 3 December 2012, evaluation meeting on the pilot activities of Supervision and Coaching (S&C) of Shefa province was conducted in Port Vila. Nursing supervisors, Provincial Health manager, and Provincial public health program officers participated from Shefa province, along with representatives of relevant Departments such as the Ministry of Health (MOH), JICA Volunteers, Peace-corps, and Provincial health managers from 5 other provinces totaling 43. Before the meeting, each zone supervisor submitted a report on the implemented evaluation of the S&C activities according to the indicators set by the project. Then in the meeting, each zone supervisor gave a presentation on evaluation results of the S&C activities. This was followed by the group work and discussion on: achievements, challenges, and possible solutions/ strategies to tackle these challenges. Besides issues on S&C management, issues surrounding supervisory visits such as chronic shortage of supplies, equipment, human resources, were also identified. The importance of such evaluation meeting with report and discussion was share with relevant stakeholders with the direction towards common purpose to improve the community health care services in Vanuatu.
