<Fiji> Post Training Supervisory Visit (PTSV)

Photo

Post-training supervisory visits (PTSV) were carried out to monitor the implementation of the Need-Based In-Service Training (NB-IST) activities as well as to address the gaps identified by interviewing supervisors and supervisees using a PTSV checklist. Almost every PTSV was conducted with a divisional health sister (DHS), divisional in-service training coordinator (D-IST-C), supervisors and a project team member.

The gap between supervisor's capability and actual skills varies across geographical divisions and areas. In some areas, the gap was large so that they had to be invited back to the training. Specific activity planning after the supervisory visit and Competency Standard (CS) assessment was the common weakness found in the most supervisors. DHS and IST-C in Eastern managed to conduct some NB-IST during PTSV which are recommended in other divisions too.
