Rice Research Technical Workshop (4th) at EIAR

Following up with the technical workshop held in Nov. 2010 (please refer Project News 2010-11-17), researchers from Agricultural Research Centers (ARCs) and Universities, conducting FRG based rice researches in collaboration with FRG-II project, were invited again to the rice research technical workshop at the Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research (EIAR), Addis Ababa. Mr. Tsuboi (aka. Mr. Nerica), JICA expert in rice cultivation technologies from Uganda came back again and instructed in comprehensive rice research techniques including experimental design, data collection and statistical analysis, and translation of obtained results into conclusions.

Presentation and discussion sessions for the annual report of rice FRG research in 2010 and the further experimental plan for 2011 were held in the workshop. Reserachers from ARCs in major rice production areas also actively participated in the question-and-answer periods and further discussions. Review meeting for "Rice Cultivation Standards/ Recommendations in Ethiopian Agro-ecologies" also convened by the facilitation of Dr.Alemayehu Assefa, cerials program leader HolletaARC. The establishment of this standards/ recommendation is recognized as one of the major outputs from this series of rice FRG based research activities.
