Visit at Kilimanjaro Agricultural Ttraining Center (Tanzania)

JICA Exparts and an Ethiopian counterpart from FRG-II, visited the Kilimanjaro Agricultural Training Center (KATC), Tanzania to observe the facility of the center and present situation of rice production in the surrounding regions. FRG-II contributes the promotion of rice production in Ethiopia through FRG based research activities, and now project is planning to send Ethiopian rice researchers KATC for the training in rice cultivation technologies.

KATC was established with support from JICA in 1994. The center had conducted several short- and long-term training courses to extension officers and farmers in the region, as well as entire nation with service delivery systems and neighbouring countries like Kenya, Malawi, Uganda and Zambia since 2001. The FRG-II staff also visited at the Lower Moshi Irrigation Project sites and practical farmers fields of the Leki Tatu Irrigation Scheme. With the trainees at the KATC short-term training cource, the FRG II staff toured several practical farmers fields in the LekiTatu irrigation scheme and learned their efforts and ingenuity in farm management.
