Discussion at the workshop

Coalition for African Rice Development (CARD) was established in 2008 to bring major stakeholders together to aim doubling the rice production in Africa within 10 years. Ethiopia joined the CARD group countries and officially developed the Rice Research and Development in 2010. To develop implementation plan based on the strategic paper, CARD workshop was organized between Jun 16th and 20th drawing researchers and administrative officials from all over the country. FRG II Project selected rice as one of the priority focused areas and supporting FRG based rice research projects since 2010. The project as one of the major partners participated the workshop. The workshop identified important issues and potential partners. More detailed implementation plan will be developed in next CARD workshop scheduled in September.
