FRG training for Rice researchers
From 30th, May 2011 to 3rd, June 2011, FRG basic training for rice researchers was conducted at Melkasa Agricultural Research Center (MARC). Research teams, who were from federal/ regional research centers at Gambella, Benishangul Gumuz, and Tigray (11 researchers), were selected among the applicants to the call for the FRG based rice research proposal.
First 3 days, participants were introduced basic ideas of FRG based research approach by researchers from MARC and Adami Tulu Agricultural Research Center (ATARC). The participants also visited FRG farmers at Awash Bishola. The participants were impressed with the comments of the farmers by the way they talk about their observation and activities on previous and on-going FRG activities.
Last 2 days, participants had an opportunity to observe presentations on 2010/11 reports and 2011/12 plans by the researchers from agricultural research centers in Amhara, Afar and Somali Regions (4 researchers). They provided those participants newly conducting FRG based research activities with clear idea of the research activities on farmers' field.
