On 23rd of August 2011, Japanese experts of FRGII project visited Bako ARC. There, Mr. Girma Mengistu and Mr. Danachew Lule guided them to their experiment plots on upland rice and lowland rice in the center. After Mr. Girma came back from taking part in a JICA training in Japan on rice, he actively conducting research on rice at the center and at farmers' field with their own budget and EAAPP(link: http://www.asareca.org/index.php?page&as=56).
On 24the of August, Japanese experts and Mr. Girma Mengistu visited Chewaqa where rice is produced most in Oromia region. Mr. Girma is working with rice producers on varietal trial of upland rice at their field. He is also working with different FTCs on triticale and bread wheat varietal selection.
We agreed to share information and experiences on working with FTC through participatory research activities, and to work closely together on rice development in the region.
