The call was announced on Dec 29, 2011 and closed on Feb 15, 2012. Currently, "Research activity using FTCs" and "Use of FTCs for technology generation and dissemination" are recognized as one of the important outcomes for policy recommendations. In this regard, FRG II project called for proposals in the FRG research activities involving FTC mentioned area for support for the coming production seasons. We have received 139 research proposals from out of 139 proposals, 11(8%) were applied from federal research centers, 98(71%) were applied from regional research centers, and 29(21%) were applied from universities (1 unidentified) from all regions.

The topics of the submitted proposals were full of diversity including topics such as "pastoralists", "aromatic plants", "enset", "poultry", "apiculture", "watershed management" etc.

Some of the research proposals were automatically rejected due to missing basic information, which "Format of the proposal" clearly indicated. Others were simply extension activities of new technologies without any research components. As long as FRG based research is a RESEARCH activity, it has to produce new information in the end.

For the tips of designing FRG based research activities/ developing FRG research proposal, please take a look at "6.8 Developing FRG proposal (p40-p45)" of "Guideline to Participatory Agricultural Research through Farmer Research Group (FRG) for Agricultural Researchers" (it can be downloaded from: ).

The proposals are still under selection process. We will announce the result once the selection process is finalized.
