Malagasy researchers visited FRGII

A team of researchers from FOFIFA (Centre National de Recherche Appliqué au Développement Rural) of Madagascar visited FRG project, and participated in a Basic FRG approach training at Adami Tulu ARC. Their aim of the visit was to learn basic principles of the approach so that they can apply FRG approach in their daily activities and the activities of a project funded by the World Bank in Madagascar.

During the visit, they have discussed on the approach with Ethiopian researchers and FRG farmers. The Malagasy researchers deepened their understanding in the approach and FRG approach was expected to be practiced in their country.

Besides, a linkage was established between Ethiopian and Malagasy rice researchers (Madagascar is a leading rice producing country in Africa) during their stay in Ethiopia. They started communication and worked in collaboration on identification of Rice Yellow Mottle Virus (RYMV) around Fogera plains. In this aspects, we hope the collaboration will continue for the future.
