Gender workshop at Gemeda FTC

The resource persons from FRG approach training hubs joined for preparation session and gender sensitization workshop at Ambo ARC and Gemeda FTC of Horro Guduru Wollega Zone, Jimma Rare Woreda.

On 24th June, all the participants met at Ambo ARC to prepare for the gender sensitization workshop with FRG member farmers to be conducted on the following day. The overall explanation of what gender sensitization workshop is about and what to prepare for the coming workshop was presented by Mr. Teha Mume (OARI). Then, the participants worked as groups to prepare the items needed for the workshop on the next day.

On 25th June, all the participants moved from Ambo to Gemeda FTC. There, the participants practiced gender sensitization workshop including exercises such as Daily Activity Calendar, Control/ Access over Resources, Division of Labor, and Action Plan Development. From the exercise, we learned that, for teff seed sowing, , it is mainly done by male farmers when it was broadcasted, and it became a work of women farmers when it was drilled.
