Strategic coordination of UNICEF and Japan for the national rollout of the MCH Record Book in Ghana for the improvement of maternal and child health and nutrition

UNICEF and Embassy of Japan in Ghana launched a 2-year project: The Project for Improving Nurturing Care through the use of Maternal and Child Health Record Book". The signing ceremony was conducted at the Residence of the Ambassador of Japan in Accra, Ghana, 11th March 2020. This is the scale-up project of the Maternal and Child Health Record Book which MOH, GHS, and JICA developed. UNICEF will support GHS to conduct more health worker training on MCH RB in the geographic areas the GHS-JICA MCH RB Project does not cover. Strategically UNICEF will utilize facilitators and training materials which GHS-JICA MCH RB Project developed and additionally promotes nurturing care in the training. UNICEF Project will be implemented by GHS, UNICEF, JOICFP and Ajinomoto Foundation in close coordination with JICA. GHS-JICA MCR RB Project trained 869 facilitators nationwide and 990 health workers so far while UNICEF project will train additional 2400 health workers across the country in the next 2 years.

MCH RB Project will work together with UNICEF and support GHS to promote quality maternal and child health and nutrition services utilizing MCH RB all over the county in Ghana.
