Village Health Working Group Cadre Workshop

Even though we keep carrying on cycle 1* activities, we have already started cycle 2 activities in November 2011.

In order to capacitate health working group (HWG) cadres** to be a movement initiator of Primary Health Care Improvement (PHCI) activities in a village, PRIMA Kesehatan has conducted a cadre workshop for village health working groups in 3 target districts in cycle 2: Bulukumba on 5-6 December 2011 with 115 cadres, Barru on 9 December 2011 with 39 cadres and Wajo on 13-14 December 2011 with 123 cadres. The total number of HWG cadres trained was 277.

Other objectives of this training was to deepen cadre’s understanding about the basic concept of HWG’s role: basic knowledge on facilitation of HWG planning process; and mechanism of HWG activity in a village. With the comprehension, the HWG is expected to be less dependent from an outsider facilitator when conducting activities and in that the PHCI activity becomes sustainable.

In this workshop, participants discussed the common problems experienced by HWG through planning process and learned each other along with PRIMA Kesehatan planning module for primary health care improvement.

Cycle 1* :1st year activities = a series of project activities in 2011 Indonesian fiscal year. Our PHCI cycle starts from planning, then followed by implementation, evaluation and reporting.
HWG Cadre** : Volunteers in the village/ward and member of HWG who are expected to take initiative in mobilizing other members of HWG.
