PSBM: Local Facilitator Workshop

PhotoHead of SMP Division from 3 kab/kota had the presentation how to achieve PELITA Mandiri successfully.

Local Facilitator Workshop was held on 24th and 25th May in Anyer, Kab.Serang, Banten Province. Participants are over 150 people; Local Facilitators in Kota Serang, Kab.Serang and Kab.Pandeglang, Pengawas, KIT (Kabupaten/Kota Implementation Team) members, PLT (Province Liaison Team) members, Field Consultant and PELITA team members.

PELITA initiated the system of Local Facilitators in 2009. Local Facilitators are selected from TPK (Education Development Team in Kecamatan) members who are well qualified to assist schools and TPK with PSBM (Participatory School Based Management) implementation. Most of them are teachers or principals, while a few are officials of UPTD. The original intension of PELITA to introduce Local Facilitators was to replace Field Consultants with them as part of the "exit strategy." This Workshop was organized for all Local Facilitators under PELITA to gather together to exchange their experiences over the past two years and give useful insights for the future of PSBM.

In the Workshop, four Local Facilitators shared their activities and experience. They also requested to KIT (Kabupaten Implementation Team) to issue the official letter to nominate local facilitator or ID card.

Generally, Local Facilitators were appreciative of the position of Local Facilitator and enjoying its work with only transportation expenses being paid.

PhotoParticipants answered, "Yes!" when Dr.Toyomane asked if they would like to continue PELITA-PSBM as Local Facilitator.

All three KITs acknowledged the Local Facilitators' positive roles as indispensable to implement PELITA and expressed their commitment to continue PELITA as mandiri.

In the closing ceremony, Toyomane san asked all Local Facilitators if they would like to continue the program as Local Facilitators. All Local Facilitators answered "Yes!" with big smiles. He pointed out the achievements of Banten in PELITA is the changes, which are cooperation between SMP and MTs, transparency, and school's initiative through REDIP/PELITA.
