On March 23, the National Inception Meeting of the new program, Program for Enhancing Quality of Junior Secondary Education, has been held at Millenium Hotel in Jakarta. The Program aims at disseminating and implementing PSBM (Participatory school based management) which was developed in the previous project called REDIP, and LS (Lesson study) which was developed in the previous project called SISTTEMS. Therefore, in addition to Ministry of Religious Affairs and Ministry of National Education as the national counterparts, regional partners such as provincial and district education offices, LPMP(Institute for Quality Assurance for Teachers (MONE)), and teacher training universities also participated in the meeting. During the Inception Meeting, the JICA Program Team made a presentation about the program overview and activities schedule. Dr. Baedowi, Director General of DGQITEP*, made an announcement that this program will be named as Pelita SMP/MTs, an abbreviation of “Program for Enhancing Quality of Junior Secondary Education” or “Program Peningkatan Kualitas SMP/MTs” in Indonesian. Pelita means an enrichment or a light in Indonesian.
