It was attended by 23 (16 Males, 7 Females) members drawn from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries (MoALF), JICA Kenya Office, Partner Projects and their target Counties.

The Chairperson of the PMC who is also Project Director, Madam Mary Kamau, gave the opening remarks. She explained that Gender mainstreaming is a vital issue as it impacts on food security and income generation in Agriculture sector. She appreciated the members for turning up and informed them of their role of giving technical advices on project technical matters to Project Steering Committee (PSC). She urged them to actively participate for their contribution is important for the success of PEGRES.

During the meeting, Project Implementation Unit (PIU) briefed the members on: PEGRES Overview, Plan of Operations and Budget, Achievements of 1st year's activities, Gender Study findings in Mathira West and Teso South; and Plan for Revision of Project Design Matrix (PDM). Madam Beatrice Mwaura, PEGRES National Project Coordinator made a presentation on her experiences during her JICA Training on "Agricultural Extension Planning and Management" held at JICA Tsukuba in Japan from July to September 2015. All the participants agreed that "KAIZEN-Continuous Quality Improvement" which was introduced in the JICA training and continuous encouragements to extension staff in the field is necessary for extension services not only in Japan, but also in Kenya.

PMC members encouraged PEGRES to expand its activities by collaborating and partnering with other projects and Counties. PEGRES could assist Counties to customize the Agriculture Sector Gender Policy into their county situation. With technical advices from PMC members, PEGRES will continue to work closely with partner projects and Counties to enhance gender mainstreaming in agriculture sector in Kenya.
