PEGRES Second Project Steering Committee Meeting

PEGRES organized its 2nd Project Steering Committee (PSC) meeting jointly with another JICA Technical Cooperation Project: Smallholder Horticulture Empowerment and Promotion Project for Local and Up-Scaling (SHEP PLUS) on 4th and 5th May 2016 in Nyeri County. 21 (15 Males, 6 Females) members and other relevant officers attended the meeting from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries (MoALF), JICA Kenya Office, and National Treasury.

On the first day of the meeting, all the members joined site visits to Family Budgeting Training for Hiriga Cattle Breeders Self Help Group in Mathira West Sub-county, Nyeri County, organized by PEGRES and Mathira West Sub-county Livestock Production Office. Members confirmed that PEGRES capacity building for staff and farmers in the Sub-county will contribute to increased productivity and should therefore be up-scaled. The enthusiasm by farmers and staff should be encouraged and the participation of the youth be supported further.

On the next day, the PSC members held the meeting and PEGRES Project Implementation Unit (PIU) briefed the members on PEGRES Plan of Operations and its Progress Report. PSC members appreciated and encouraged PEGRES to expand its activities through mutual collaboration with County Governments and partner projects.
