PEEQ Activities Are Being Prepared in Schools!

PEEQ has been implementing many activities for the quality improvement of primary and lower secondary education. Now, it is also carrying out activities in schools to improve attendance, especially in schools in disadvantaged areas.

The Ministry of Education in Morocco has a nation-wide project, namely "School Project", to provide subsidy for all basic education schools during next three years. The schools are preparing their plan to apply for the subsidy starting from September 2015. PEEQ was requested to work with selected schools to prepare and implement innovative activities based on experiences in Japan.

Responding to the request, PEEQ and school directors and teachers are making plans with a small amount of the subsidy prioritizing the following three themes:

  • Improving the transition from primary to lower secondary
  • Improving self-esteem of students
  • Provision of support to slow-learners

Some schools have already presented their plan such as: sensitization to parents whose children are not attending the school; gardening by primary students together with lower secondary ones, and; activation of school clubs to help students to improve their self-esteem.

PEEQ is going to support not only the planning but also the implementation of activities to realize various initiatives of Moroccan teachers.
