JICA training entitled "Improvement of Teaching Methodology of IFPs on In-service Education and Training in Mozambique" will be held at Naruto University of Education in Japan from 27th of June to 15th of July.
The mathematics team of our project will participate in the JICA Training. With the support of Mathematics Education Specialist, the team worked on the following three pre-tasks for the training.
- "Scope and Sequence of Mathematics in Primary Education". The team made a table of the contents indicated in the primary education curriculum according to the grades and its domains such as "Natural Number and its Operation", "Quantities and Measurement", and "Fraction".
- "IFP annual teaching plan of ‘Mathematics' and ‘Mathematics Teaching Method'". The team discussed the contents, objectives, and an appropriate number of teaching hours of each unit of IFP modules and developed annual teaching plans.
- "Sample learning material of ‘Mathematics Teaching Method' (Unit: Fraction)". In the process of developing the sample material, the team discussed what kind of knowledge and teaching method would be required for IFP students to teach to the primary students in the future. The team will revise these pre-tasks through the JICA Training program.
In the training, the participants will visit Japanese primary schools to observe lessons. We are looking forward to hearing their impressions on Japanese education next month.
