Regional Mangrove Coordination Meeting and Mangrove Seminar were conducted

November 7 and 8, 2011

On 7th November, 2011, Regional Mangrove Coordination Meeting was conducted in Bogalay Township, participated by the Minister of the Ministry of Environmental Conservation and Forestry (MOECAF), FD counterparts, and relevant departments and agencies such as Department of Fishery, Myanma Agriculture Service and Settlement and Land Record Department. The meeting was aimed to share/discuss about underlying issues in the delta mangrove area among relevant departments in Regional level. Participants shared their current activities and realizing issues in the Ayeyawady Delta by presentations, and active discussion among participants was held at the following discussion part.

Mangrove Seminar, participated by FD counterparts and relevant departments and NGOs, was conducted on the following day of the meeting. In the seminar, the Project shared experiences/ lessons learnt from the Project activities to participants and then participants discussed about better CF/ mangrove management and livelihood improvement of communities.

The project will continue these kinds of opportunities to gather relevant sectors in order to seek for a practical synergy among the sectors for the sustainable CF and mangrove management.
