On 5th of August 2013, Matema village (11hrs drive from capital city of Dodoma), Kilombero district of Morogoro region, welcomed 36 community representatives coming from 10 O&OD project target villages in 5 districts and 2 another adjacent villages near Matema.

Community road rehabilitation and maintenance training was being held for 4 weeks from 5th August through 30th August 2013. This intensive training consisted of one week of theory class and three weeks of field practice supervised by implementation partner of the Appropriate Technology Training Institute of Tanzania (ATTI).

This training aimed at not only merely providing community representatives with technical skills that contribute to connect scattered sub-villages and construct culverts, but also to promote them to be facilitators in infrastructure sector after returning to their own villages and disseminate the know-how of road construction to neighbors and then to the whole community.

The Project will be expecting to encourage the self-help efforts within the community through this process.
