Checking condition of the structure
The inventory surveys were conducted in the model districts in Chamwino and Iringa from October to December 2012.
The survey is conducted annually for budget planning and quantity assessment of maintenance works based on the conditions of target roads. The personnel in charge for inventory survey are from Works Department; all activities related to inventory survey such as planning, monitoring of road condition by driving, and summarizing the results were conducted by the engineers or technicians.
After the inventory survey the Council Engineer prioritizes the maintenance needs; then, he prepares estimates for budgeting purposes. The annual plan for rural road maintenance consists of road condition, maintenance standard, maintenance needs from mid-to-long term perspectives.
The RMSD Project is assisting and monitoring: the procedure of planning; establishment of criteria for annual plan through discussion of regular meeting on the operational guidelines.
