Monitoring Workshop (W/S)

Monitoring is routine work that is project-internal. After the commencement of the Project, monitoring activities will be conducted so as to check whether or not project activities are implemented and project outputs are produced as planned. If it is necessary, the modification of the Project is considered and promoted. Monitoring is a pillar of the project management because the Project manages the objectives based on the indicators and revises the project activities and outputs in response to the various changes during the implementation period.

Monitoring activities shall be conducted mainly by the counterparts (C/P) in consideration of the project sustainability after the termination of the Project. Thus, the monitoring expert has supported to establish the monitoring system in cooperation with C/P.

In the Monitoring W/S (Participants: District Eng. and Technicians, RS Eng., etc.), the ratings (1 to 5 scales) of District Eng. and Technicians on their practical skills and knowledge were calculated, and the results were presented. Participants had a great deal of attentions to the results.

PhotoW/S has reached a climax when the figures hidden by a piece of paper appeared!

The questionnaire survey on District Eng. and Technicians was conducted by themselves (self-evaluation) and RS Eng. (evaluation by another person) respectively, and the results were compared so as to avoid the subjective evaluation. As RS Eng. is positioned to cover district councils in the administrative line, the evaluation results by RS Eng. might make the ratings objective by comparison between both evaluation results. However, the low ratings could indicate that the technical assistance by Japanese experts is not partially sufficient.
