Project has started

On 14 February 2011, the "Project for Implementing the Maternal and Child Health Handbook for Scaling Up Nationwide (MCH Handbook Project)" has started, scheduled for 3 years.

Ms. Yukie Matsuura, project coordinator/maternal and child health expert has arrived in Hanoi on 14 February 2011. Mrs. Akemi Bando, project chief advisor also has arrived in Hanoi on 1 March 2011.

In this project, at first, JICA and the Maternal and Child Health Department (MCH Dept.) of the Ministry of Health (MOH) will make the Vietnamese version of “Maternal and Child Health Handbook (MCH handbook).

Then, the MCH handbook will be implemented in the four provinces of Dien Bien, Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa and An Giang. These four provinces were representative for diversified social and regional groups in Vietnam.

Finally, based on project evaluation in terms of process and outcomes, the MCH handbook and guidelines will be institutionalized for further nationwide application.
