Ha Giang province, which takes approximately 6 hours by a car from Hanoi, is very famous for its mountains. In addition, Ha Giang is well-known as a home of 22 ethnic minorities accounting for nearly eighty eight percent of the population.

Ha Giang was successful in implementing Mother and Child Health Handbook (MCH handbook) in whole province, as an outcome of the joint project conducted by the Vietnam Ministry of Health and the University of Osaka in Japan.

From 10-12 March, fifteen people including project staff and representatives from project target provinces joined the study tour to Ha Giang.
The purpose of this trip was to understand how Ha Giang implemented the MCH handbook, what mothers and the families think about the MCH handbook by seeing the situation and discuss with the staff and mothers in Ha Giang.

Dr. Tran Quang Hien, An Giang said “I regret that I did not have MCH handbook when I was as a baby. I wish I could know my growing history from the fetus. ”
The participants got ideas how to implement MCH handbook and also deepen their awareness of the handbook.
