The 1st Training course of Trainers (TOT) was conducted from 14 to 17 December 2011, in Hanoi. The TOT was for participants who will be provincial trainers at the training courses for medical staff on the contents and how to use MCH handbook.

This time, the 2nd TOT was conducted from 27 to 29 December 2011 in Thanh Hoa, which is one of the four pilot provinces. At this TOT, 25 medical officers from Thanh Hoa, who have experience as MCH trainers were participated.

Thanh Hoa is the third populous province in Vietnam, following Ho Chi Minh city and Hanoi (Health Statistics Yearbook 2009, Ministry of Health).

In Thanh Hoa, the project will target a huge number of medical staff, pregnant women and mothers who has a child under 1 year old etc. will be targeted in this project. Therefore, a TOT course for only for participants from Thanh Hoa was conducted.

Many medical staff who works at provincial, district level that is the target area for this financial year participated to this TOT. Only 28 % knew about MCH handbook by the pretest, means that 72 % have first learned about MCH handbook at this TOT.

The group works such as mock lectures, presentations, brainstorming were fully worked out. In reflection on useful information and activities that made trainees feel excited and might support their career by the posttest, most of trainees agreed that teaching methods and group work activities were very helpful.
