Workshop on Influenza laboratory assessment for Provincial Centre of Preventive Medicine (PCPM) was organized in National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology (NIHE) in 3-4 November. There were four participants from National Influenza Centre (NIHE), two participants from Pasteur Institute Ho Chi Minh City, one participants from Pasteur Institute of Nha Trang and three participants from Tay Nguyen Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology. The total number of participants was ten. After the introduction of Dr. Mai (Head of Virology Department) on new type of Influenza, Dr. Kageyama (Head of Influenza Research Centre, National Institute of Infectious Diseases) presented on laboratory diagnosis management. The workshop also discussed on the current situation of PCPMs and diagnosis on Influenza including avian Influenza in NIHE and other Institutes. The most concerned issue is strengthening the laboratory network in PCPMs and Institutes agreed on making questionnaire for assessment.
