Developing IEC teaching material for Anthrax laboratory diagnosis

Photo

Training courses on Influenza, Pestis, Anthrax, Rabies and Cholerae laboratory diagnosis for nation-wide laboratory staffs were organized in National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology with the participation of Japanese experts.

The Project has developed Information-Education-Communication (IEC) training material (video) on the basic procedure concerning enter-and-exit of BSL 3 laboratory, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) usage, sample transportation into laboratory, biosafety cabinet usage and biosafety principles.

With the cooperation of Mr. Sumida expert (from February 6 to March 2) and staff of Bacteria Department, Biosafety Department in NIHE, the IEC material for Anthrax laboratory diagnosis has been developed. The content of the material covers a wide range of knowledge from general introduction of Anthrax to testing method. We have finally prepared the IEC teaching material entitled "Guideline on diagnosis of Bacillus anthracis in laboratory" DVD (Vietnamese version) in which demonstrates a wide-range of procedures from those in NIHE BSL-3 laboratory to those in PCPMs laboratories, depending upon their actual situation of different laboratories.

The Project has implemented and promoted activities by utilizing this IEC teaching material in biosafety practice, laboratory diagnosis and testing technique.
