As one of the main objectives of the project, DOHA Management is the essential knowledge for medical staff of provincial and district hospitals. After the kick-off meeting in June, all six provinces have formed Project Management Unit (PMU), made their own implementation plan and prepared for setting up DOHA network. In order to provide comprehensive understanding on DOHA management and referral system for medical staffs of six targeted provinces, the first training on DOHA Management was conducted in Lao Cai Province in 3 days, from 4th to 6th September 2013.
With over 60 participants from 5 among 6 provinces of the projects, trainers from central hospitals and Medical Service Administration (MSA), Ministry of Health, the training generally met all targets of the course. After the course, trainees should be able to:
In the class-room sessions, trainees received the lectures from rich experienced experts from MSA, MOH on regulation relating to direction on healthcare activity, draft of circular on referral system and guidance on making form in patient transfer process. Trainers from key central hospitals, i.e. Bach Mai, Viet Duc, delivered training procedure and experiences on implementing direction on healthcare and referral activities. Trainees then executed a training planning and budget allocation in group discussion sessions. On the last training day, all participants visited Lao Cai General Hospital, a new-built in March 2013.
This training course not only provided trainees knowledge and skills for implementing DOHA activities, but also brought chances for face-to-face interaction and experience sharing between province-province and province – policy-makers from central level for the single purpose of better medical services for patients.
