Training course on DOHA and referral activities in JFY2015 (Summary)

In the 3rd year of the Project (April 2015–March 2016), 6 training courses on DOHA and referral activities were conducted in each target province in order to further strengthen the managerial capacity on DOHA & referral system. In each training, management staffs of provincial DOH and PGH who were trained at central level in Hanoi in the previous year acted as lectures for the trainees who are the staffs in charge of DOHA and Referral in district hospitals and commune health stations.

In Hoa Binh province, all 205 communes received the DOHA & referral training in June 2015. After this training, all 11 districts in the province had successfully completed organizing district referral meetings by the end of 2015. As a result, cooperation between each district hospital and its covered commune health stations has been improved and contributed to the establishment of referral system from the commune to DHs and PGH in the province.

In other 5 provinces, the training courses were conducted for mainly district hospitals including newly assigned staffs. The training contents are about the new instructions and regulations issued by MOH on DOHA & referral and how to utilize the referral data, in addition to the basic contents such as DOHA network, making referral report and points of organizing referral meeting, etc. Ms. TAKASHIMA, Chief Advisor of the Project also joined as a lecturer on data analysis and data visualization.

All participants were so excited with the content of the lecture. It was also a good opportunity that the leaders of DOH, PGH and district hospitals exchange and share their opinions. Through a series of training, it was found that district staffs have good analytic ideas for the region as well as provincial staffs. Ms. TAKASHIMA recommended that district hospital raise more voices in the referral meeting for promoting the discussion between province and the districts aiming to further strengthening of regional medical cooperation.

The training also gave good motivation for Dien Bien and Yen Bai province, where their districts hospitals had been less involved in referral meeting.
