Partnerships

The Green Climate Fund (GCF) (external link) was established as the operating entity of the financial mechanism of the UNFCCC in 2010. GCF supports developing countries to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and enhance their ability to respond to climate change.

In July 2017, JICA became one of the first accredited entities in Japan. An Accreditation Master Agreement (AMA) was signed between GCF and JICA in May 2018, and effectuated in April 2019. As an accredited entity, JICA is expanding its climate change efforts through this effective collaboration.
